DEC DCM is Cancelled due to flu! :( Too much glitter lickin and glue sniffing!

Hiya people!
We hate to say this, but Heather <me> has the flu, freshly diagnosed as of this morning, Thursday. I am the only organizer that was going to be there this weekend as well.

I do not wish to give each of you the flu, that would not be very nice of me. I still have fever and still contagious.

With that said, I do want to apologize. If you have paid already, I would like to offer everyone that I move you to the January 24th weekend? Hit us up at DCM@dallascraftersmarathon.com to let us know about moving you to Jan meet up.

I have sent out an email to all that have RSVP'd asking if moving you to January meet up would be ok, or if you would like another arrangement.

I hope you do get to craft this weekend, I will be in bed or the couch!

Again, my apologies. I've never had the flu in my life!

Happy Holidays, Happy Crafting and see you next weekend!

Looking forward to seeing everyone next weekend at DCM, YES the weekend after Christmas! We still have room so RSVP if you can attend! At this time, we have plenty of room for walk ins. It is $25.00 for whole weekend, $15.00 for Saturday, Friday and Sunday are each $10.00 per day.

***Starting in January 2014***
The Friday and Sunday per day rates will be $15.00 per head, per day. We are keeping Fri-Sun at $25.00. Why the rate increase, you may ask? The new lease the Game Guys signed had a slight rate increase. On a good note, looks like DCM will be renting the place for several more years! :)

As a reminder, we are just some local crafters that wanted a large place to craft, with like minded friendly people and not be cramped or have to travel very far. We are very thankful to have such wonderful crafters come and craft with us. It has been hard for some to understand why we rent this space to just craft together and not draw an income....Well, if those that question it would attend and hang with us all, I think they'd answer their own question!

Happy Holidays and Happy Crafting!

Thank you to those that stayed and helped us cleanup and arrange the tables. While it was not necessary, with Heather temporarily certified as 'Zombie Bait', your help is much appreciated and we are very grateful for your friendship. Many crafty <hugs> to you ladies!

All Treats No Tricks Blog Hop! - Thanks for all who participated!

Val, Donna and Heather
DCM Organizers

https://www.facebook.com/dallascrafters

Welcome to Dallas Crafters Marathon. We have access to a great space for crafting, quilting, sewing, paper crafts, jewelry, gelli plate monoprinting, art journaling, altered book, painting & more! Join our email list on the front page of our blog for blog hop confirmation!
We are a group of crafty people that like to craft together and share ideas, it's that simple. We are not Direct Sales Consultants who have classes at our Meetup to promote sales. We simply wanted to craft with other like-minded people and NOT be cramped.
Our facility is 4000 sq. ft. with a kitchen, two large fridges, coffee pot, lounging area, bathrooms, two large rooms and plenty of space! Each crafter also gets a six foot table (there are also two large round tables that two persons could share), folding chair (bring a cushion). We can comfortably fit 43 crafters and we are open to adult men and women crafters above the age of 15.

To attend our meetups, there is a small fee of $25 via meetup.com. You may also register at the door for the same amount; but your spot is not reserved. All fees go to the lessor for improvements to the space and leasing fees. We do not keep any of the attendance fees, it is NOT about profit for us.
Bring your projects and supplies to work on.  If you plan on painting or doing a messy project, please bring something to protect the tables and carpet. We have electrical outlets and extension cords.

Thank you for visiting our blog and we appreciate your blog hop participation! This time of year, DCM friends love popcorn balls!! To collect your next treat, HoP on over to The Craft Inn!!

Starting Points by Shimelle

Well, I have been absent from the scrapbooking scene for a while working on minibooks and altered art. Recently I rediscovered Two Peas In A Bucket's Forum's and have been more into doing layouts. I recently discovered an online class that is AWESOME! Shimelle Laine teaches a class that shows you how to use an entire collection pack down to the last scrap. Here is a link to the website to sign up for the class. I had a pack of Pink Paisley Vintage Vogue paper that I just LOVE, and wanted to use it all. It came with four sheets of each paper (2 sheets of each design) and I was like.."how am I going to use all this paper?". Well, this class did the trick! By using half of the pad for backgrounds and cutting up the other half I got twelve (yes 12!) "starting point" layouts done! What is a starting point? Check it out here. I will post the starting point layout and completed layout later on. You can check it out on my Facebook page if you cannot wait!

September DCM 2013 Crop Info!

Donna had sent out a message to the group last Saturday regarding September and why there was a reduced headcount. There are two of our fellow crafters that wanted to rent the space to raise money by having a breast cancer crop with their group of crafters. We agreed to split up our normal headcount and help their cause during our regular September DCM event.

With that said, we cannot have a waiting list, the other group has a specific head count allotted to them. Closer to the date of the crop, if they have available spots, we will add some headcount to our meetup group.

The organizers hope you all understand. We will not make this common practice, however, the organizers felt this was a worthy cause.

If anyone wants to sell their spot for the DCM crop, you are welcome to post in the Meetup Group comments and work with that person directly.

Have a great Labor Day weekend getting your craft on! If you have any further questions, please let us know.

Scrapbook Expo!

Donna, Val, Cindy and I met so many great people this weekend at the Scrapbook Expo in Grapevine at the Gaylord Texan! Thank you all for letting us talk about the DCM facilities and The Crafty Neighbor Scrapbook Crops and Cruises!

I just wanted to again say that the space we use for crops is a wonderful place and we are honored to be able to use it for crafty goodness!

What is our mission? We wanted a big place to crop in Dallas, not be crowded, not have to drive too far and be with fellow crafters! That was our goal and still is. We are not in this to make money! The money that comes in we use to buy things for the facility, pay utilities, rent and amenities like trashcans, wifi etc. In the last year or so the facility has had carpet installed as it used to be a dance studio. That's it, we want to GET OUR CRAFT ON!!

Thank you again for allowing us to share this wonderful crop space with you and we look forward to welcoming you to our crop place!

Wishing You All One Helluva a Glue Sniffin' & Glitter Lickin' Time! And don't forget, you know you had a GOOD time when you wonder how glitter got in your underoos!

Happy Birthday Donna Pope!

I wanted to wish Donna a very happy birthday today! Donna and I met in 2007 at the Grapevine Scrapbook Convention while waiting for a class to start after lunch. I'm glad she started talking to me!

Never thought she'd email me when we exchanged emails after that class and vendor show, but I'm glad she did! Now, here we are 5 1/2 years later, scrappin buddies!

Thanks for talking to this introvert that day!

I'm ready for DCM this weekend!!

I'll have my Gelli Plate this weekend! Good opportunity to see this new item that seems to be all the rage. I love it for art journals, card making etc! I'm not an expert but I like to pretend I am haha!

I never made my own gelatin plate for mono printing so the Gelli was new to me. There are MANY videos on Youtube using the Gelli Plate you purchase and a Gelatin Plate that you make at home with good ol' plain gelatin. Take a gander over on Youtube or the Gelli Arts site link below. Some have even used a thin silicone baking sheet/thing or a silicone mat of sorts for this.

SPOILER!!  This will be one of the items that is a Door Prize at National Scrapbook Day!! WOOT!

Gelli Arts - Gelli Plate

Wishing you crafty goodness and see you all this weekend!

Latest Happenings!

Several of us went to the Heirloom Stamp show today! The show was good but a tad bit warm in the main room. They seem to have more stamp and die cut vendors this time. We saw a lot of familiar faces :)

Cindy has a 365 days of Art Journaling challenge going on!  I am doing what I can and love following the daily prompts!

I will be trying out my new Gelli Arts plate later today! This is a mono printing plate that has been out about a year. I just learned about this plate and it delivered today! Here is a video link!

Looking forward to seeing everyone in a few week!
